Today The Chickens Will Rise

The writer's foot became infected in India. (Many countries' water systems
are unsafe to other countries because the organisms are different.) It
was not responding to antibiotics. She went to the hospital in the ashram at
Puttapathi where Dr Vijayalakshmi (mentioned so often in the Arnold Schulman book)
told her it might have to be amputated. The writer had had immune problems
since college days after eating a rare hamburger....She contracted mono never
having had a sexual relationship. Mononucleosis, often called the 'kissing disease' would more accurately be called one of many meat diseases. That day she touched Swami's feet
and the infection disappeared. Swami had told her in a dream the previous
night "today the chickens will rise". She had not become a vegetarian until
her mid 20's. Perhaps Baba was referring to a previous life in which her family
had been involved in a chicken farm. Perhaps one meaning of His koan was that
all will rise, including flightless chickens.

or kine pox has been renamed smallpox. Mad Sheep Disease has been renamed Scrapie.
Swine or pig flu has been termed legionnaire's disease etc.
